Maggi cube is used all over Africa and the Caribbean and many people do not know its origins. Maggi the brand in general originated in Switzerland in 1880s by a man called Julius Maggi an Italian immigrant.

He created his dark seasoning sauce out of hydrolysed vegetable protein which was initially made for the working class who couldn’t afford it.

By 1908 , Julius had went on to create bouillon cubes which was a substitute.
